Do You Enjoy What You Are Doing?

Do You Enjoy What You Are Doing?

In our desire to know God, we often join a church to learn about Him. We receive teachings and tools to deepen our knowledge, but sometimes we only know Him halfway.

Why halfway? Because we don’t seek Him daily. This leads us to a partial understanding and an incomplete reverence for Him. As a result, our obedience is also partial, and the outcomes of our actions often fall short of our expectations.

We may question whether following God is worth it, whether He truly exists, or if He is interested in our lives. Lack of knowledge and understanding breeds fear, especially in crucial moments: changing jobs, moving, getting married, having children, studying, or serving.

We might assume that if something is "good," "easy," or "pleasurable," it must be from God. However, this isn’t always true. God doesn’t do things halfway; everything He does is complete and perfect.

Did Jesus want to be crucified? Did Noah want to build an ark? Did Daniel want to serve a king who enslaved his people? Did Gideon want to go to war? Did Moses want to confront Pharaoh?

The Bible is full of examples of men who faced undesired challenges because they obeyed God with love. They changed their lives, their families, and their communities, and their stories continue to transform us today.

Are you doing something you don’t enjoy, but you know God has asked you to do it?

  • If your answer is yes, keep going. Bring your fear to Jesus’ feet, leave it there, and trust Him more.

  • If your answer is no, congratulations! Keep obeying what God has called you to do.
