Suitable Help

Suitable Help

We have a God who is our supreme authority, and in His infinite wisdom, He delegated His authority to man as the head of the household. Naturally, we are speaking of authority from a biblical perspective. It is said that behind every successful man is a woman, and it is no coincidence that from the beginning, in the book of Genesis, God the Father refers to the woman as a suitable helper.

“Then the Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.’” Genesis 2:18 (NIV)

In the home, our wife is the perfect complement to carry out the role that has been entrusted to us. Unfortunately, in many households, this is not the case, as the wife becomes — we could say — a stumbling block for her husband to be the leader God chose.

For example, if a man seeks God's presence, guidance, direction, and instruction through intimacy with God to gain the revelation on how to carry out his tasks well, he would expect his wife to support him and not interrupt or question his setting aside time alone with God. However, we find wives who, in one way or another, interfere with these times of intimacy by calling on them to do other tasks or demanding time for themselves.

A leader in his home shows through his actions service, justice, humility, courage, and wisdom, characteristics that define proper leadership, where the woman plays a crucial role as her husband's right hand to achieve this.

Wife: Are you being that suitable helper? Are you wisely helping to build your home? Can your husband count on you? Does it bother you or put you out when your husband dedicates part of his time to building the kingdom? Do you often complain about the activities he gets involved with at his church?

"A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands." Proverbs 14:1 (NLT)
