God Always Speaks: Listening to His Voice in the Mountains

In the mountains, we leave behind our daily routine: phones, watches, alarms, social media, work, and even what many consider most valuable, our beloved families, wives, and children. Our goal was to encounter God, eliminating all distractions that could get in the way. And honestly, it wasn't difficult to hear the voice of God without all those distractions during those special days.

There, in the midst of the majesty of the mountains, the breathtaking landscapes, stargazing under pollution-free skies, crystal-clear rivers, and evergreen meadows, God spoke to us through His creation. We walked more than 30 kilometers, and in each of those kilometers, in every step we took, God communicated with each of us, the men who were there.

Psalm 36:5-9 from the New Living Translation tells us: "Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord. How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. You feed them from the abundance of your own house and let them drink from the river of your delights. For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see."

God always speaks; in fact, He speaks to us all the time. However, often due to daily distractions, we fail to hear His voice. But when we disconnect from all of that, it becomes easy to hear God and, of course, to talk to Him. In my case, I heard Him clearly and engaged in a dialogue with Him. I spoke to Him about my fears, my doubts, my insecurities, and my sins. I even shared my feeling of being inadequately prepared for my job. And in that mountain setting, only He could provide the answers I so desperately needed. In the mountains, God spoke to me, just as He did to many other men present.

The key does not solely reside in the mountain but in our ability to set aside distractions and open ourselves to hear His voice, because God is always speaking to us.

This article is based on the sermon from 02/09/2023. Written by Victor Preza, God is willing to speak to all of us; we just need to find the right time and place to listen. In the tranquility of the mountains, I found my moment, when will you find yours?
