Humans often fall in love quickly or say we are in love, but in reality, it is not love; it is infatuation. Infatuation is an emotional state characterized by a set of positive sensations, both physical and mental, due to a strong attraction from one person to another. Infatuation is superficial, while love is much deeper. Most of us say we are in love, but we don't experience complete love because true love is about giving your life for others. That is the meaning of love. God loved us so much that He gave His beloved Son for us, so that He could give His life to save us.
"God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins." – 1 John 4:9-10 (NLT)
Some characteristics of God's love for us, according to 1 Corinthians 13, are:
Patience: God's love is patient with us, bearing with our flaws and waiting for us with mercy.
Kindness: God always acts kindly toward us, even when we don’t deserve it, showing us grace in every aspect of our lives.
Keeps no record of wrongs: God's love does not keep track of our mistakes.
Does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth: God delights in truth and justice.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres: God's love is unconditional. Love never fails. God's love is eternal; He never stops loving.
God didn’t "fall in love" with us because infatuation is fleeting and changes with emotions. He loved us, and that love is eternal, unconditional, forgiving, and saving. His love desires that no one should perish and that we all have eternal life.
God chose to love us, and we must also love Him. This demonstration of love is found every day when we read the Bible. We see His love expressed toward us, which brings joy and gratitude for His infinite love.
